BODY

bodyOur body is a gift from the Universe. It is the vehicle in which our spirit experiences life on Mother Earth. Our body is an absolutely perfect creation that can execute millions of functions simultaneously. It was built with the innate power to heal itself, so long as it has the tools to do so. Yet we inundate it daily with stress, chemicals, sad food choices, and disrespect. It is time for a revolutionary idea. We must start treating our bodies with the respect and care they deserve, or they will continue to break down from cancer, heart disease, diabetes and all other chronic diseases that are threatening our lives in greater amounts than ever before. This is bigger than just “me”. This is a world wide effort. Are you in?

For today, simply explore your own personal beliefs… Do you believe in a higher being or many higher beings? What is your purpose for life on this Earth? ABOUT 

Moving Bodies, Changing Minds was founded by Long Island native Jan Michelle. Jan Michelle is a Holistic Wellness Educator who combines her background as a Certified Holistic Health Coach, Personal/Group Fitness Trainer, and Thai Yoga & Reiki practitioner, with her experience in Pre-K through adult education, to provide a comprehensive program for her clients. A graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Thai Yoga Center and member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, Jan uses a natural approach, intensely focusing on each student as a whole being. Drawing on this knowledge, she will guide you to create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals. Jan Michelle believes that everyone has the innate knowledge and power to heal themselves. She works primarily with individuals with digestive disorders, those needing stress management and relief, and those who want to significantly improve their overall wellness. Jan Michelle grew up as a dancer and gymnast, so health and nutrition were always an integral part of her life, but her interest in the subjects peaked when she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Her techniques and methods come from her own experience of living with Ulcerative Colitis, discovering the emotional component of the dis-ease, and her journey toward health and healing. It is through that journey that she has discovered complimentary practices that she utilizes for her own wellness as well as that of her students. In order to experience success with Jan Michelle, you must come with an open mind and a true passion for experiencing health and healing – only then can you step onto the path toward true wellness.

MY TRAINING

After receiving her Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education and Dance from Springfield College,  a lifetime of participation as a gymnast/dancer (and later coach/teacher), Jan Michelle felt guided toward a holistic career, helping people to achieve optimum wellness through an integration of Mind, Body and Spirit.

Holistic Health Coaching

Jan Michelle received her training as a Certified Holistic Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) through their cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program. While the education Jan Michelle received at IIN was thorough and life-changing, she continually builds upon it as she delves deeper and deeper into her practice with Digestive Wellness. Following her own journey with ulcerative colitis (UC), Jan Michelle decided to focus on the health and wellness of the digestive system within her practice. Therefore, she works with individuals with digestive dis-eases and disorders, while also using the digestive tract as a means to address all other health concerns, such as weight release, skin conditions, attention and mood concerns, and disrupted energy and sleep patterns. Turning the attention to the digestive system allows for the most preventive and foundational approach to health and wellness.

BodyMind Classes

When designing and teaching classes, Jan Michelle draws upon her years of experience as a dancer, gymnast, and personal fitness trainer, as well as her detailed knowledge of the human body. By honoring the body and working with strengths, while specifically addressing weakness, BodyMind Classes are designed to train strength, flexibility, endurance, tone, length, balance, grace and using the body as one integrated unit.

Thai Yoga Therapy & Reiki 

Jan Michelle received her Certified Thai Practitioner: Level 1 (CTP1) education from the Thai Yoga Center in Florida. This training allows Jan Michelle to provide a complete SomaVeda Thai Yoga Therapeutic Day Protocol. Aachan Dr. Anthony James created the SomaVeda Integrated Traditional Therapies program of study to provide the tools for balancing, healing and transforming the mind, body and spirit. “We use the whole person to heal the whole person.” Also a Reiki practitioner, Jan Michelle received her Level I & II Reiki attunements from Jim Lavery, Reiki Master in Huntington, NY. Reiki Level II attunement allows me to conduct individual Reiki sessions, group Reiki or Reiki Circles, and Distance Reiki. Training for Ironman and other triathlons has my body very cranky. I am a believer in being proactive and having traditional deep tissue sports therapy massages regularly.
